Summer Outreach 2003

"Mission Possible"
Dates: July 9th - July 23rd 2003

Dear Kings Kids and families:
I am very thankful to God and proud of my Kings Kids for completing another outreach successfully! We truly saw God move in a powerful way and saw Him provide miraculously. The first miracle was that we had a school bus donated to us 2 days before the outreach started! The next couple of miracles happened when we got the bus insured and inspected within 2 days so we were ready to go on Sunday morning. The following miracles occurred when we broke down between Vernon and Kamloops exactly at the place of a mechanic who not only helped us repair the bus for a couple of hours on his day off but who also really needed Christians minister to him!

The miracles never stopped. After a powerful time of worship on the bus Christians who were renting a camp close to where we had broken down invited us to have dinner with them because a youth group who was supposed to have arrived that night had broken down on the way too. So we ate their yummy hamburgers. After supper they invited us to spend the night at their comfortable camp. So God provided everything we needed! The camp even gave us sandwiches for breakfast the next morning! We set off on Monday morning and arrived at Prince George at the Westwood Mennonite Church at 9 pm after a 13 hour trip. The church served us a wonderful welcome dinner and we went to bed.

On Tuesday, we went to Fort George Park in Prince George together with the youth drama team of the Westwood church, the "Ask Team". We had a great time ministering the love of God to about 50 children and their parents who were at the Park. We had a full program of over an hour complete with puppetry, dramas and dances. About 15 - 20 children responded to the altar call at the end and gave their hearts to Jesus. Praise God! Also, a TV crew appeared at the end. They filmed the drama "The Champion" and interviewed me and Leanne, the drama leader of the Ask Team.
On Wednesday, we went to the MCC housing project in Prince George, a social housing complex. We started our program outside but were surprised by a thunderstorm. We took the program into the community centre and finished it there in a very cramped space. But the Spirit of God moved powerfully there and about 6 - 8 children gave their hearts to Jesus right there. A lady who lives there and who goes to the Westwood church is going to follow them up and take them to Sunday school.
On Thursday we had our day off. We went to the pool to go swimming and to get clean since there were no showers at the church. In the evening we watched movies.

On Friday, we went to Stoney Creek reserve, a native reserve about an hour and a half west of Prince George. We had an audience of about 40 kids and 15 teenagers and young men.

We saw a some of first time commitments to God and lots of recommitments to follow God whole heartedly. Everybody thanked us for coming and want us back.

On Saturday, we had a busy day. In the morning, we went to pray over Prince George on a hill overlooking the city. We worshipped Jesus and repented for the sins in the city. We asked God to move and to bring revival. In the afternoon we had a free carwash. We washed people´s cars and told them about the love of God. A couple of people were blown away that we didn't want their money. In the evening the older kids went to do their dramas at an outreach to the street people in downtown Prince George. They also served the people coffee and talked to them. For many of the kids, this was their favourite outreach. The people watched the dramas intently and it was obvious that the message of the dramas was hitting home.

On Sunday, we prepared a family fun night at the Westwood church. We played games and did our program, complete with testimonies of 2 kids and explanations of the dramas by the kids. 2 people got saved: an 18 year old girl who had been invited by a Westwood church member, and Ashley, a 12 year old girl from Westbank who we had taken on the outreach hoping she would become a Christian.

Ashley told us all the next morning and we were all overjoyed because we had all been praying for her.

On Monday, we debriefed the outreach and talked about how God had changed us. The Westwood served us a yummy farewell dinner. On Tuesday, we left Prince George early and arrived in Williams Lake around lunch time. We did an outreach at the local park in the afternoon. We had a couple of families and children watch our program in 30 degrees heat. About 6 children gave their hearts to Jesus after the program and will be followed up by the Cariboo Bethel Church in Williams Lake. In the evening, we had a night of thankgiving to God and to each other. On Wednesday, we left at 9 am and arrived at 5 pm at the YWAM base.
God has changed us and has shown us that he is involved in every detail in our life. He is our provider and the lover of our soul. He wants to use children and teenagers to bring others to himself. He doesn´t look at our age but at our hearts and will use anybody whose motives are right and whose hearts are pure. We praise God for the powerful outreach we had, for bringing us closer to him, for keeping us safe and giving us joy and fun while we served him.
God bless you all as you bring Him joy serving Him at home!
